Lisa Jones is a Reader in Public Health in the Public Health Institute, Liverpool John Moores University. She leads the Public Health Institute's programme of work in Systematic Reviews and other types of Evidence Synthesis. Lisa has more than 15 years of research experience, primarily in systematic review and other methods of evidence synthesis. She has been involved in the production of more than 20 systematic reviews in the field of violence, drug and alcohol prevention and treatment, and other related public health topics.

Lisa has led the production of evidence synthesis projects to support the development of guidance and guidelines by national and international bodies; including the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), the UK Chief Medical Officers and for the World Health Organization. She also spent six year managing the Champs Collaborative funded Intelligence and Evidence Service, a jointly owned agenda to provide evidence and intelligence for the local public health system in Cheshire & Merseyside. Her current research interests focus on supporting evidence-informed public health practice and on the social causes and consequences of violence, drug and alcohol use.

John graduated in Veterinary Medicine (Royal Veterinary College), followed by a Dairy Internship at Michigan State University. Subsequently he worked in livestock practice in the West-Country, before working as a consultant at an international pharmaceutical company. During this time, John completed a Diploma in Ruminant Nutrition (Harper Adams University) and a Masters in Veterinary Epidemiology and Public Health (Royal Veterinary College).

John obtained his PhD at the University of Liverpool as part of the NIHR Health Protection Research Unit in Emerging and Zoonotic Infections in conjunction with Public Health England. In his thesis he appraised health datasets for their Lyme disease surveillance potential in the UK.

Rebecca is a Public Health researcher in the Public and Allied Health department at LJMU. She has worked as a researcher in Public Health for the past 7 years with a special interest in researching violence prevention particularly domestic, sexual and youth violence.

Margaret Winchcomb is a Chartered Civil Engineer with a passion for transport, focused on people.

Since joining PACTS in 2021 Margaret has led their Research and Policy work. In March 2023, Margaret was promoted to the post of Deputy Executive Director of PACTS. Her work includes research into the safety of private e-scooters informing recommendations for future legislation. This project won a Prince Michael International Road Safety Award in 2022. She has also been involved in the production of PACTS’ new strategy and ran the last PACTS conference ‘Equality and transport safety’.

Margaret is an active member of her local cycling campaign group and is a member of Women in Transport.

Laura Sambrook is a Research Assistant at LJMU. My research interests are trauma-informed care, adverse childhood experiences, domestic abuse, perinatal bereavement and suicide prevention. Laura recently worked on a study that aimed to improve care pathways for those with complex mental health needs and have presented on this work at international conferences.

Karen has worked in the Home Office since 2019 having previously worked in DfE, Cabinet Office, DWP, DIUS and House of Lords. Karen has worked on several high profile and complex projects from data sharing, improving outcomes for Children’s Social Care, and with the EU on Youth Policy .

Hugh Currie is a Senior Policy Advisor in the UK Home Office's Serious Violence Unit.

Yvonne has 18 years’ experience within the British Army. She has a track record of being a supportive and forward-thinking team member, skilled in working in culturally sensitive and challenging environments. On leaving the Army, Yvonne secured employment at Trinity Academy as a tutor, delivering construction vocation qualifications and later becoming part of the pastoral team offering guidance and support to learners aged 5-16, who have an Education, Health and Care Plan for Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH).

Before her current role as a Student support champion within the VRU, Yvonne spent 2 years working as a senior mentor engaging with young people who are involved in gang-related offenses, child criminal exploitation, including county lines, and anti-social behaviour within the Northumbria area.

Yvonne is also 1 of 3 directors for Samantha’s legacy. Samantha’s legacy fight for no other person or family to suffer the pain of losing a loved one to knife crime. Samantha's Mum, Sister & Cousin (Yvonne) fight tirelessly to prevent serious violent crime in the Northeast Region, Using their own life experiences, they share Samantha's Story with young people in the hope of changing mindsets but ultimately supporting the prevention of knife crime and saving lives.

Sarah is one of two Student Support Champions working for Northumbria Violence Reduction Unit. She has many years experience working with vulnerable youth in residential, care, education, and health settings. She has a strong psychological background, completing a MSc in Developmental Psychopathologies and choosing to complete further training in areas of specific interest such as trauma and mental health. Sarah has previously worked as an Assistant Psychologist, completing interventions with young people aged 5-18.

Emma Ciclitira works as the Healthy Ageing lead for the Public Health team at Liverpool City Council. Emma has been with the team for two years but has been working on healthy ageing, particularly falls prevention, within Merseyside for over 7 years.

Gareth is a Public Health Practitioner at Bolton Council and has extensive experience from working in Local Authority Public Health teams in both Merseyside and Greater Manchester. He has been directly involved with licencing and other regulatory services developing the way they can achieve public health gains.

Gareth has a rich and balanced skill set honed from 14 years as a teacher (secondary and primary sector) followed by a varied career in promoting health and wellbeing, culminating in public health manager/commissioner work including leading on health promoting services and schemes across many sectors including substance misuse and healthy weight.

Phil is a highly experienced Data and Intelligence Practitioner who has worked across a great range of public health related topics providing excellent summaries, presentations, and interpretations in support of wellbeing improvement.

Jen is the project lead for the Trauma and Injury Intelligence Group (TIIG) which is part of the Public Health Intelligence Unit (PHIU), managing intentional and unintentional injury and violence data. She works to support partners (including, community safety partnerships, police, health services, local authorities and Violence Reduction Units (VRUs) across England and Wales in their violence prevention work.

Mark Whitfield is the Intelligence and Surveillance Manager at the Public Health Institute. He leads the PHI's Public Health Intelligence Unit team who manage the collection of data from a variety of sources throughout the north-west of England.
